Married | Jena & Henry

I know I say I have the sweetest couples all the time, but seriously, Jena and Henry are some of the sweetest.  The chance of rain during their outdoor ceremony time wasn’t going to keep them from being cool, calm, and having the most fun with their family and wedding party.

The rain stayed away and their spring wedding at Haue Valley was a dream.  The trees were in full bloom and rows of daffodils stood tall to make the most beautiful backdrop for photos.  Jena & Henry opted to have a second photographer so I was lucky enough to have Shelly Goodman by my side to help capture their big day.  With us both shooting film, the magical colors of spring at Haue Valley looked more vibrant than a dream.  They had so many lovely details and flowers that I could have taken all day just to photograph and stare at all the pretties.  Jena & Henry exchanged their own vows below an archway of draping flowers and eucalyptus leaves.  The evening celebration began as guests played the awesome yard games during cocktail hour and we snuck away for more photos.  Jena’s wish of no rain stayed true throughout the night and the fun and dancing continued well after sunset.  What an honor it was to witness and photograph such a lovely couple on their gorgeous wedding day. <3

Married | Heidi & Nick

When Heidi received news that her sister would be traveling home to Missouri from working in Africa, she did what comes naturally to her and seized the moment.  She and Nick decided to have their wedding when her sister was able to stand by her side, this meant that they would have to plan their wedding in a matter of weeks.  With all details in place on a clear March day, they tied the knot in a beautiful conservatory with their closest family and friends in attendance. <3

Married | Mary & Josh

So much awesomeness in one day, that’s Mary & Josh’s wedding day summary.  From their fun personalities to the beautiful touches they incorporated into their winter wedding.  Mary had handkerchiefs that were from loved one’s weddings, Chandler Hill Vineyards looked stunning with woodsy accents and candelabras, and they treated their guests to a surprise fireworks show during the reception.  Sooo great!  To top that off they were game with being cold out in the grape vines to help me create an end of the night photo.  Fun-loving couples like them make my job the best. 🙂

Married | Ellie & Scott

If you’ve been following my blog for a little while you may remember Ellie & Scott from their adorable baking engagement shoot.  It’s no surprise that their wedding day was one-of-a-kind as well; they exchanged vows in the early morning at the beautiful Statler Ballroom of the Renaissance Grand with Ellie in one of the most gorgeous gowns I’ve ever seen.  Following their ceremony, they shared an awesome brunch with their guests upstairs in the stunning Crystal Ballroom.  Talk about two of the most breathtaking ballrooms in all of St. Louis!

It was drizzling off and on throughout the day, but no amount of rain could keep Ellie & Scott from being upbeat for their outdoor photos.  Fortunately, as we arrived at the park, the rain slowed down and eventually stopped just in time.  I am honored that I was a small part of their wedding and I am so excited to share their gorgeous wedding with you! 🙂

Married | Liz & Nate

In my last blog post I wrote about how much I connected as friends with the couple, and Liz and Nate are the same way.  I have realized that all of my couples become my friends throughout the time leading up to their wedding day, it is such a blessing to grow close to each couple.  Liz and Nate are another perfect example of this, throughout the planning process I have loved getting to know them more and more.  They embody what it is to be genuine, kind, and as a couple so head-over-heels in love that it’s apparent and inspiring to anyone around.  Keeping with being true to themselves, Liz & Nate exchanged their own vows, Liz shared hers with me and I’m sharing them below.  I bet you can’t read them without tearing up like I did reading them and hearing them on their wedding day. 🙂

Nate,
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a planner. I stick to the plan. There are many situations where this has not worked out well for me, but our relationship was not one of them. I began planning this moment in my mind almost immediately after meeting you. You made that easy, because you wanted me to be myself. It wasn’t weird when we named our intentions early on. It wasn’t uncomfortable when I told you I didn’t want to see anyone else after our first date. I loved you from the start, even though I waited for you to say it first. I knew you were the one who I wanted to be with forever, and each day that I have known you, I am reminded of that.
There’s no one like you, Nate. The most attractive thing about you is that you are so comfortable in your own skin. You care more about being authentic and true to yourself than about what others might think. For example: You made me a mix CD on our first date. You recruit anyone you meet to play Ultimate, work at KIPP, move to Shaw. You cook without recipes. You told me you loved me after just three weeks of knowing each other, because you were in love, and why would you keep that to yourself? I know that this is how my life will be with you: real, honest, and unafraid of vulnerability. You make me laugh often. You make me want to be better each and every day. You are patient and supportive of all of my choices, even when they prove difficult. You love me unconditionally, as is. You communicate to me every day that we will make it work, no matter what, and thrive while doing so. We are driven by a common vision for our lives, families and futures. We are equals, partners. I love you with all of my being, forever. You are EVERYTHING.
Nate, I take you as my husband, my partner, my other half, and best friend. Everything that I am, I give to you. All of my love, my soul, my being, is yours, from now until forever.
